Promotional Music Poster Examples

During class we looked at past examples of student created promotional posters. We evaluated them and said what the pros and cons were of each of them. I found three posters that I really enjoyed and thought were very good. Two of the posters are film posters which are different to my music poster needs however I thought they were very good and I could still take inspiration from them.

This is the first film poster I'm evaluating and I am completely in love with it, the colour scheme, the lighting, the layout are all gorgeous. I cannot fault this poster other than the fact that the creator could have made the text slightly bigger because it is hard to see from far away. From looking at this photo I will take inspiration from the simplistic but effective nature of it. The photo interests the audience because it creates enigmas and only shows the main character.

This is the second film poster, again it is the simplistic but effective nature of the poster that gains my interest, The black and white colour scheme draws the audience in and gets them interested because the eye naturally focuses on the figure and then the title, the viewer questions whether the figure is running away or whether he is the reason you should run. I can't fault this piece, the typical conventions of a film poster are that they should include some reviews which this creator has decided to go against, and I agreed with this because it would ruin the simplistic nature of it.

This is the music poster, what draws me to this poster is the mysterious figure. I like the border around it which is quite unusual in music posters and the minimalist text. I do feel that certain aspects could be changed to create a more effective piece, like the figure being centred and using the same text throughout the poster but overall the poster draws the eye in and interests the viewer which is very important.

From looking at these posters it has inspired me about my own promotional poster because I can take separate ideas from each, however something they all share is a simplistic but effective layout. I feel that by using a simplistic layout it looks a lot better than filling the poster up with lots of reviews and awards because then there are too many focus points for the eye to concentrate on.
